点评:The outdoor parts of the Gardens are free, and care made up of an interesting collection of wetlands, palm groves and outstanding examples of public art. We wandered those areas of the park for most of our daytime visit, soaking in the green space and the quiet, and reading the dozens of well-designed interpretive panels that dot the various outdoor displays. There is a lot to learn in the outdoor spaces, so take advantage of the free admission and set some time aside. The wetlands were our favourite part of the park, they’re beautiful and serene with cascading water, streamlets, a huge lilly pond, and lots of birdwatching.
Similarly, the famous Garden Rhapsody light and music show in the SuperTrees Grove is free, and tons of fun. Showings are at 7:45 & 8:45 pm nightly, and the music/light show combination changes monthly. It’s well worth checking out.
This large scale urban park and conservatory complex is one of Singapore’s signature attractions, meant to appeal to both visitors and residents alike. It was built at a cost of approximately SGD $1.2 Billion, and was considered a signature element in the nation-state’s “City in a Garden” initiative.
The total area of the three sections of the Garden is 101 hectares (approximately 250 acres). The largest and most visited/photographed section - the South Park - is 54 hectares and includes the iconic SuperTrees Grove and two massive conservatories: The Flower Dome and The Cloud Forest Dome.
Finally, it’s important to know that many of the most iconic features of the Gardens charge a not inconsiderable admission fee, particularly for non-residents. The Conservatories are SGD $53/pp for entry, the OCBC Skywalk is SGD $12/pp, and the SuperTree Observatory is SGD $14/pp. So if two people want to visit all these attractions your entry fees for the day would be SGD $158 - not an inexpensive day by any means. It’s worth noting that the fees go directly towards offsetting the annual operating costs of SGD $58 million.
*Note: We never went into any of the paid admission sections because we were doing a budget travel trip throughout SEA. However, in a different budget reality we most definitely would pay those admission fees as we hear nothing but good things.
This really is a must-visit attraction when you’re in Singapore. Highly recommended.
