Knole - National Trust的点评
点评：We had a gorgeous time at Knole on Sunday. I had visited many years ago when the bedrooms were looking quite sad and unloved - it has clearly had a lot of love (and money) lavished on it since then. The rooms were absolutely sumptuous and beautifully restored. I particularly liked how the lives of some of Knole’s famous residents had been spotlighted, though I think this could have been interpreted and recreated creatively even more. I hadn’t realised for example that Vita’s grandmother was the exotic dancer depicted in marble. How amazing! There was an exhibition of rather garish artworks about famous women at the time of our visit, which seemed really out of place and jarring. They were placed in front of the lovely rooms which rather spoiled their effect. I appreciate what the Trust was trying to do which was be more inclusive, but the effect was irritating and weird, and could have been curated so much more effectively in a different space.
