Impressive collection, exhibition and even a caff attached
Wolverhampton Art Gallery的点评
点评:I was walking back to the station from an abridged court hearing in the Combined Court Centre when I was tempted back into the city centre by a poster advertising an Andy Warhol exhibition in the Wolverhampton Art Gallery. A giant sheep attached to the first floor balcony of its grand Victorian building bleated and jumped as I passed by the main entrance pausing to view the splendid parish church adjoining it before entering the side entrance. There’s a modern welcoming space with a cafe to the right, a bookstall straight ahead and an impressive sculpture in front of me. I took what had the dimensions of a gods lift to the exhibition rooms on the first floor with an impressive mix of paintings from the 18th to 21st centuries with a particularly colourful selection down a staircase. The Warhol exhibition included some prints of David Hockney and Gilbert & George alongside the more well-known Mohammed Ali, Chairman Mao and U.S. Dollsr. Some late self-portraits of the artist in ghoulish mode occupied the last of three rooms.
