An Elizabethan Gem in Derbyshire
Hardwick Hall and Gardens的点评
点评：I hadn't visited Hardwick Hall since Covid, and as the weather was good I decided to pay a visit. I arrived just beofr 9am when the grounds, gardens and restaurant open.
I manged to have the restaurant to myself and had my obligatory scone and coffee.
I walked around the gardens and then for the first time down to the ponds, which were located in the most beautiful rolling countryside. The only downside was trying to avoid the sheep droppings on the grass as they graze in the fields leading to the ponds.
I then was first to enter the main house and staretd in the grand hall, then towards a small exhibtion and then the main rooms of the house.
There is such a wide variety of furniture, paintings, cermaics and tapestries from the Elizabethan period, including an Armada portarit of Elizabeth I in the long gallery.
The tour ends in the kitchens and toilets are located just as you leave the house.
I then visited the old house, which is limited to the outside at the moment due to approval from the National Trust to enter the renovated ruin. I have been inside on previous visits and you get stunning views from the high floors of the surrounding landscape and the new house, new being 1583. Hopefully access should be allowed from next year.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hardwick on the most perfect of Autumn days.
