Blown away by Nine Mile Ranch & the pictographs!

点评：We went for the petroglyphs and were blown away! We’ve travelled to several places in the US to see petroglyphs & pictographs and Nine Mile Canyon is very, very special.
First, Sheryl & Joe are incredible guides- knowledgeable, friendly, flexible & safe. We’d highly recommend hiring them for a day.
What makes Nine Mile so spectacular is the petroglyphs are in terrific condition (there’s always some vandalism), most are easily accessible from the road and the sheer concentration of them. There are SO MANY in such a small area.
Yes, there is a book you can get that shows you where some of the major sites are, but Sheryl & Joe showed us many that weren’t listed there (and also added in canyon history and family stories as well).
We stayed at the Nine Mile Ranch campground in our travel trailer for 2 nights (Site C). Although the site was somewhat uneven, it was wonderfully quiet.
If you are interested in pictographs, ancestral art, history, or just have a curious mind, we cannot recommend this highly enough. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
