点评:RSPB Arne is our favourite place to visit when holidaying in Dorset. As members we get in free but understand the fee for non members is only £7 which includes your parking and as there are numerous trails to wander and a very well run cafe we would probably still visit regularly even if not a member. Well worth every penny.
We prefer to walk the Coombe Heath trail and this time we saw sand lizards and common lizard, silver studded blue butterflies and to top it off a white tailed sea eagle flew past heading towards Corfe Castle! Amazing, first time we've spotted one flying here but staff told us they can often be seen when the tide is high.
The Shoreline trail is also good for views across the water, sea breeze kept the heat manageable whilst we were there. We took the time to detour through the wildflower meadow and the butterfly and dragonfly life was outstanding and we had it to ourselves for most of the visit! Deer is often seen too. It is a marvellous place to spot all types of wildlife not just for birdwatching.
Cafe serves typical cafe fare and staff are pleasant and helpful. Plenty of outside seating.
Don't be put off if the main car park is full - there is an overflow in the field and the reserve seems to absorb the visiting numbers easily.
