点评：Outstanding once-in-a-lifetime experience. Excitement starts from the get-go, when your Navajo Guide (ours was Ty and we couldn’t have been more lucky) tells you insider stories on the way up to Hunts Mesa. The drive soon becomes rather adventurous with the road turning into a gravel road, then into a path and then into a trail (at best). Ty maneuvered the vehicle with great skills, which wasn’t an easy task. 2 hours later you get dropped on top of Hunts Mesa, and you get a couple of hours until sunset on your own while your guide prepares the camp and a camp fire.
Pro Tip: take some snacks with you while you enjoy the breathtaking views over the Monument Valley from a perspective that 99.99% of the visitors never get to see. Had I known better, I would have bought a bottle of wine to complement the 5 star experience.
After the sun sets, your guide will pick you up and drive you to the camp, which is about 10 minutes away, and starts preparing your dinner on the campfire. Slowly it will get darker and darker and the stars start to twinkle on the firmament. Stay as long as you can before heading into the tent where a warm sleeping bag waits for you.
The next morning you are greeted with some warm breakfast, ready to make pictures of the sunrise. After the camp has been tidied up it’s time to drive down - another couple of hours. On the way there, we visited one of the rare arcs that you only can visit while in the camp.
Fantastic experience all together - and an outstanding guide. Thanks Ty!
