点评:….despite this being a big, museum-like building in the heart of a big city-like city. Very hole-in-the-wall way in and dire signage throughout – meaning none at all. No directions to the art and nobody manning the information/ticket desk when we arrived. We wandered in, following our noses, to a room that told the ‘story’ of Lady Godiva, except it wasn’t told at all, just a series of vast, shouty wall panels, in several different font sizes and as many fonts, wittering on about nothing very much, talking down to every age group bar those who couldn’t read. Bad lighting, cramped, no directional signage and though several of the paintings were good – like the excellent Landseer – the labels gave no collection references or dates of acquisition or anything of real import as a good museum should.
This is not a good museum. It is small and unimpressive and poorly displayed and aiming for the highest common factor, which is a very low bar indeed. They apparently have at least one serious painting, by Luca Giordano, but ts was nowhere to be seen and no directions to it or others.
