Emotional feeling inside the old chapel - we were made very welcome.
Church of St. John The Baptist的点评
点评:There is plenty of historical information about this church on the Internet so this is purely a personal experience review: The view at the top of St.John's is splendid and is easily accessed via a lift in the annex. The annex is called the 'Museum of Sculpture' and inside, the old original church has been reconstructed. It costs 3 euros for entry.
When we first stepped into the annex I was so overwhelmed with what I saw, it made me very tearful. It was an overload feast for my eyes and I have only ever experienced this kind of feeling once before which was in the Sistine Chapel in Rome. I am not for one minute suggesting that this is on the same level as the Sistine Chapel, I am just merely explaining how I felt when I entered the annex. I do not have one religious bone in my body at all but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the beauty of the delicately carved Maltese Stone and the labour of love the people of Xewkija have gone to and are willing to share with visitors to Gozo.
The ladies in the church were very welcoming and gave us lots of information. I took a scarf just in case but I didn't need it.
This is a memory/feeling, one which will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for the experience.
