点评:A fantastically interesting tour of the very important Jacobean house. The tour was extremely good value and so much more informative than just wandering around the rooms. This was my first visit and I have just been watching the BBC2 programme by Germaine Greer based on Pevsner's Travels. She was somewhat scathing but the programme was obviously made some years ago - I believe 1998 from peering at the date at the end of the credits.
The scathing comments do not represent the Hall as it can be viewed now - for instance, the furnishings are more appropriate to the house and it is made very clear how the original public rooms related to the private accommodation. For once, well done Birmingham Council! Obviously, nothing can change the industrial surroundings (or Villa Park next door) but do go. There is plenty of free parking and a large public park which is free to enter.
