点评:A primary reason to visit Stratford-upon-Avon must be because it is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, playwright and the Bard of Avon. This means you simply could not come to this beautiful Tudor town without taking in the actual birthplace house and 'New Place', the house that Shakespeare later bought after he became a successful and wealthy man. Both places are looked after by The Shakespeare Centre, with the birthplace being pretty well fully preserved and 'New Place' partly preserved due to a man who bought it after Shakespeare and his wife's death and who then knocked it down to build a more luxurious home. Both are incredibly interesting and there are a number of exhibits with explanatory signs as well as several extremely knowledgeable guides to tell visitors all about the history. My partner and I enjoyed our visits to both locations and thoroughly enjoyed them In the birthplace house our first guide, Amanda gave a very interesting chat about the house and we later saw her again at 'New Place' where she was a very eloquent speaker and gave us a really good history here too. Back at the birthplace we also met Euan, a young man who gave a really good talk about Glove-making. Shakespeare's father John, was a glove-maker of course. Very interesting and there were several examples of the types of gloves, as well as bags and pouches, that John Shakespeare made. In 'New Place' we also saw a mulberry tree. This is reputed to have been grown from a sapling taken from the original tree that was said have been planted by Shakespeare himself. We can wholeheartedly recommend visiting these two venues and also take in the third, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, which belonged to Shakespeare's wife. Unfortunately we ran out of time to see this ourselves on this visit but will be coming back later this year to pick up where we left off. Bottom line - A great attraction that everyone should experience.

Bottom line - A great attraction that everyone should experience.
