点评：We made our first visit to the Lord protectors house today and we were not disapointed.Not only is this attraction a credit to Ely,but anyone interested in British history and the English civil war would love it.
After deposing the "man of blood"Charles the 1st who killed his own people, Oliver Cromwell proved once and for all nobody is above the law including the king who wanted the whole country ruled by him whilst ignoring parliament and making the Catholic religion supreme under him.
After his son Charles the 2nd was also forced into exile later on in the civil war and also hiding up a tree on the run,oliver ruled successfully until his own death.
Former royalist General Monk,who years before had defected to the parliamentarian army under Oliver thus sensing a power vacuum marched the parliamentarian army 350 miles back from Coldstream in Scotland after winning the battle of Dunbar and restored Charles 2nd back to the throne.
The new king asked where they had come from, and they replied Coldstream in Scotland, although fiercely english, and after this they all laid down the arms and took up the royalist cause thus becoming the Coldstream Guards Britains oldest and still serving regiment since 1650.
Charles the 2nd went onto having loads of illegitimate children,where did they all end up,and was the future crowned royal monarchy succession entitlement ever correct after that? I now wonder who and where the real royal blood is,it could even descend back to you?
