Always a joy to visit
Cité Médiévale de Gruyères的点评
点评：Gruyères is just a very pretty village. Been here several times and it never fails to amaze. This time around I was here with my students to enjoy the village and to visit the Chateau.
Came by train and visited the very informative Maison de Gruyères first. Just right at the train station. From there it's an easy 10-15min walk up here. There are several ways. Some shorter but steeper and also easier ways. The huge parking lot is just a short walk away as well.
The historic town has wonderful walls/ramparts. Some you can walk even and get nice valley views. The Chateau Gruyères is definitely a must. Lots of rooms to explore, the ramparts, a wonderful courtyard, the gardens. Well worth a visit.
Also in town is the HR Giger Museum - the creator of THE Alien from the movies. Right next to is the Alien Bar - great setting, like a movie-set.
A cheese shop, a chocolate shop (both very good) and several other souvenir shops are in town. And of course plenty of restaurants, most with nice outdoor seating. The views here are great with the valley and the mountains in the back.
Even though not huge, this village has lots to see and do and you should take a whole day to enjoy it fully. Especially if you check the Chateau and Giger museum out. And just around there is also a place to picnic, with trees providing some nice shade.
We will definitely come back again.
