点评：Allonby beach is the 4th most polluted area in England and Wales, and the 3rd most polluted in the North West, with 4'923 hours of sewage being discharged into the area in 2025. It is also the 4th worst area for illegal 'dry spills' with 428 hours recorded in 2025. These figures are based on the reporting supplied by the water company responsible, United Utilities. However, the true extend of the pollution could be even worse, as regulators have found that water companies often under-report, manipulate testing data, and fail to disclose illegal dry spills....so sad that a beach that appears so unspoilt is in fact being used as one of the biggest toilets in the country! And it makes it's status as being a Highly Protected Marine Area (HPMA), a complete farce!!...If you are visiting the area you should check the 'live sewage map' by Surfers Against Sewage, and avoid the water if there are any active, or recent, sewage releases. Or choose a less polluted beach to visit in the region, there are many that are far less risk to your health!
