点评:Litchfield Park is about 100kms from Darwin, and a very easy drive if you prefer to get a hire car (we used Sixt hire car just outside the city centre). The park is free of charge to drive around, as the roads are still part of the national highways. There is just a large sign advising you you're now in the park. We visited in February at the start of the wet season.
The temperatures were around 32 degrees so not very comfortable to get out and do much walking or hiking. Also, the Wangi Falls were closed for swimming as the wet season brings the crocodiles, but the infrastructure and signage to walk around, view the falls and get up into the rainforest area are excellent.
Each stop throughout the park has toilets, running water and plenty of shaded tables and chairs if you want to stop to eat or have a picnic. There's lots of information about the flora and fauna you can witness at each site.
The road trip is a fairly constant view of grassland and lightly wooded areas of mainly eucalyptus trees, and of course many termite mounds. If you keep your eyes peeled, and keep your speed down in a car, you'll see wild Kangaroos and Wallabies throughout the park, as well as parakeets, parrots, eagles and other native birds.
Definitely worth stopping at Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, the Magnetic Termite Mounds, and viewing Tolmer Falls at the aboriginal sacred grounds which has a huge viewing platform across the outback of Australia and its Northern Territory.
There are no shops, cafes at all throughout the park - this is the outback and wilderness, so make sure you stock up with litres of water, take food and if you're planning on walking take insect repellent, sunscreen, hats etc. You have to be sensible given the dangers of the wildlife, the heat and intense sun.
