点评:Thursday 9th July while walking along Akti Miaouli in the harbour area of Kos Town we walked past this Gate structure.
Standing in front of the Gate there was a tall statue of a woman, there was nothing around to say what it was. Viewing the statue from behind, as we passed through the Gate, we saw it had wings, we therefore, assumed it was the Angel of the Gate.
The Gate itself is a stone structure with two linked large arches on the lower level. On the upper level, in between the two arches, there is a long oblong space and arched at the top. This section is topped with a tiled apex roof.
Originally, it was one of three main gates leading into the ancient marketplace known as the Agora.
We walked through one of the arches we then made our along the street to the site of the ruins of the Old Agora.
Having walked through the arch, we turned around, looked back through the arches we got views of Kos Marina.
