点评：An utterly exceptional lunch — and hospitality I won’t forget
I’m still rather bowled over by our lunch at Kings Brook Vineyard yesterday. I’ve eaten in a lot of wonderful places, but I genuinely cannot remember experiencing service quite like this.
From the moment we arrived, the waitresses were extraordinarily attentive without ever being intrusive. And because I’m vegan, they went far beyond simply finding something I could eat. Chef Martin actually created and crafted special vegan dishes just for me — and then came out to the table and presented them himself. What a wonderful thing to do.
And the food? Extraordinary. Delicate, beautifully arranged, full of colour and imagination, with everything in exactly the right proportion. Nothing felt like an afterthought or a substitute. These were proper dishes, thoughtfully conceived and beautifully executed — and, most importantly, absolutely delicious.
Then things became almost ridiculously generous. We decided to have port for dessert, and the waitress appeared with a very special chocolate wine for us to taste, completely on the house. And as if that weren’t enough, Martin created a pudding especially for us: dark chocolate and damsons, drizzled with something utterly gorgeous. It was the sort of dessert that makes you briefly consider abandoning all conversation so you can concentrate entirely on eating it.
Even my dog was treated as an honoured guest. Water was brought for him and he was made comfortable, so he was genuinely included in the experience rather than merely tolerated. He was, needless to say, extremely pleased with himself.
What struck me most was the personal attention. Nothing felt routine. There was a wonderful sense that everyone genuinely cared about making our lunch special, and they somehow managed to combine warmth, generosity and astonishing attention to detail without making any of it feel forced.
Kings Brook Vineyard didn’t just give us a great lunch. They gave us an experience — one of those unexpectedly lovely afternoons that stays with you.
I cannot praise the place highly enough. Five stars feels almost miserly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

至于食物本身？简直棒极了。精致细腻、摆盘美观，色彩丰富且充满创意，各种食材的比例也恰到好处。完全没有那种凑合应付或用替代品充数的感觉。每一道都是精心构思、完美呈现的佳肴——而最重要的是，它们真的美味至极。随后，待遇变得近乎夸张地优厚。我们决定以波特酒作为甜点，这时女服务员端来了一款极为特别的巧克力葡萄酒让我们品尝，而且完全免费。不仅如此，马丁还专门为我们制作了一道甜点：黑巧克力搭配西梅，上面还淋上了一种绝妙至极的酱汁。那种甜点会让人瞬间想停止一切交谈，全神贯注地享用它。就连我的狗也被当作贵宾对待。有人给它送水，还让它待得舒舒服服的，因此它真正融入了整个体验过程，而不只是被勉强接纳而已。不用说，它自己也开心得不得了。
