One of the best ways to really understand being on the Islands of Shetland!

点评：What can we say about visiting Chris at Garths Croft!! A life-affirming experience because Chris is such an excellent, knowledgeable host, it really brings living on Shetland alive.
His insight into the many aspects that makes Shetland such a wonderful place to visit is next to none. He made both of us feel incredibly at home with a warm welcome and showing us around his wonderful croft. His ability to tailor what the experience contains to our particular interests definitely give him that unique ability to make the most of any visit - he knows so much about the daily life of Shetlanders, the history of the area and the natural abundance of beauty that the island holds. Meeting his flock of Shetland Sheep was a real highlight especially since it was lambing season, but coupled with a good understanding of how he produces his own food and fleece, and a keen understanding of his stewardship for his land profoundly inspired the both of us. One of us was quite taken with his old Massey tractor while the other was impressed with his fair Isle knitting using his own wool.
On top of which we then got taken to see some of the natural and historically highlights on Bressay - Chris knows everything there is to know about most of this landscape, and happily fielded all of our questions. It so good to have someone with so much knowledge about a place when you're visiting somewhere for the first time, it adds such a unique insight that we would have never got on our own.
Thank you so much for your time we could have spent the whole day listening to everything you had to say, and hope that the summer season and beyond goes well at Garths Croft, and we can't wait to return some day.
