Island and Ice Lakes Are Breathtaking

点评：This hike was on our bucket list for 6 years. It did not disappoint! We started hiking right at sunrise in late July. Wildflowers were a little past peak.
The hike up was exhausting, but we did the hike counterclockwise and reached Island Lake after about 2 hours. Island Lake was simply stunning and we relaxed here for about 45 min with only the few overnight campers there with us.
We then headed down to Ice Lake, with sweeping views en route. Ice Lake also must be seen to be believed. The color was magical, though by this time the shore was getting a little busier.
We decided to also head over to Fuller Lake. While the hike to the lake was nice, we didn't think Fuller Lake added anything to our visit to the basin. Next time we would just do Island and Ice (counterclockwise again for sure).
It was really getting busy as we headed back to the trailhead. We finished the hike in about 7 hours total, and clocked total mileage as just under 10 mi. RT. We are strong hikers and this was definitely a challenge, but one we'll never forget!
