点评:Myself and my 17 year old twins (boy & girl) were cruising the British Isles on the Majestic Princess. My daughter is a hiker and was a bit tired of the churches, cathedrals, castles, and history. She wanted to experience some Irish sites off the beaten path. Her research led her to the Cave Hill park. We decided we would hike the hill and see what it had to offer. Our Uber dropped at the parking lot #2 just outside Belfast castle. This spot provided the ideal location to hit the trails. We quickly hit the trail and it was a steep incline into the park. Once we hit the top of the first hill we found ourselves walking along in the heavily treed area. The winds were cool and the sites a plenty. It was a meandering path through the forest. We wound our way up the hill. Many of the trails were narrow and quite narrow. It was a very enjoyable experience. Half way up the hill we discovered some cave off the path. My endurance was starting to wain so I sent the kids up that path and I continued on to the top. My kids are in great shape and I was not keeping the pace so there breaking off to discover the caves gave me a chance to slow down and enjoy the view. At one point you leave the forest and continue the hike up the hill in the open. You start to see some of the scenery down below and I knew immediately that the hike was going to be memorable. I continued along until I was almost at the top before my kids caught up. We continued on to the summit. What a view!!. We sat down in the grass and took the scenery in. We could see way in the distance where our ship had docked and we could see for miles in 3 directions. After enjoying the scenery and catching my breath we set off for the descent. The hike was one big loop so we were sure to see different sites and sounds on the way down. It's fair to say that the descent was more mild and we never really seemed to part with the path. We met some young ladies from the area who were able to give some insight into the area and the hill we were hiking. It made the experience even more enjoyable. One of the disappointments was seeing the cows that are reported to roam the grounds freely. There were ample warnings to be careful and pay the cows their space if encountered. After about an hour and bit of descent we arrived at the base and were deposited right into the heart of the Belfast neighborhood. We booked and Uber, he arrived quickly. He was a charming driver and we enjoyed our travel back to the ship. I would not recommend this hike if your not in decent shape, or can't handle rugged terrain. I paid for my exercise over the next few days with some sore muscles and joint. I would bot change a thing. If t your looking for a different of Belfast I highly recommend this hike.
