点评：We had a great time at the Hoo Zoo. We booked to go on the Carnivore Experience through Virgin Experience Days and it was brilliant. We got to enjoy the zoo for a couple of hours at our own pace, during which we fed some deer and wallabies, as well as saw some of the amazing animals they cared for, before our experience began. We started the experience at 3.00pm and were taken around by Melissa who was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all the animals. Due to the heat, some of the animals weren’t interested in interacting with us and just lay in the shade looking like they wanted to be surrounded by air con, which was disappointing but completely understandable and didn’t take away from being so up close with them. But rather than just moving on to the next animal, Melissa compromised and took us to see some animals that weren’t part of the experience and were more than happy to enjoy some extra food from us, and this made the experience very enjoyable. The experience lasted about 70 mins, which was 10 mins longer than scheduled, which again was thanks to Melissa. We had a fantastic time at the zoo and the extra experience we booked was well worth it. We personally preferred the meerkat experience we did last year as there was a lot more interaction with the animals, but this one was still great and very enjoyable. I can’t praise Melissa enough, both for her friendliness and her knowledge, and she definitely was a huge factor in the experience being so enjoyable. We would definitely recommend a visit to the zoo, even if you don’t buy an additional experience. It’s just a fun day out and you can tell how well the animals are cared for, which is a lot better than some other zoos we’ve been to. All in all we had a great day, had a lot of fun, and learned a lot.
