A hidden gem of a college!
Somerville College的点评
点评：I went to St Antony's College as a master's student more than 12 years ago and I used my alumni card to visit Somerville College with a friend as the college is only available to alumni and Oxford card holders outside of term time. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful buildings in the college and the lovely green spaces.
Somerville was founded as one of Oxford's first two women's colleges and it has a number of distinguished alumni including the writer and pacifist Vera Brittain, the chemist Dorothy Hodgkin, the novelist Dorothy L. Sayers, and the Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The college has a particularly strong connection with India and one of its most well known students is Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who attended as a history student but did not graduate. Since its founding in 1879, it admitted only women until the 1990s when it became coeducational and started to admit men.
