点评:The Radcliffe Camera is one of Oxford’s most distinctive landmarks and will be included in any walking tour. However Oxford is small enough and compact enough that you can easily walk around on your own and see all of the main sights on foot (St Mary the Virgin University Church, the Bodleian and the Bridge of Sighs are all within a stones throw).
Unfortunately tourists can’t just walk in to the Radcliffe. Built to house the science library, it now functions as a working library for students and a reading room so it’s generally closed to the public (except via a tour).
Nevertheless I kept returning to the Camera just to walk past it. I loved its Pantheon-like circular shape and its striking dome. Depending on the time of day, the facade captured the light differently and at times the golden stone facade almost glowed.
In a city of beautiful buildings, the Radcliffe Camera is one of the most beautiful.
