点评:The Venetian-like Bridge of Sighs is one of the most evocative Oxford landmarks. Tourists can’t cross it or access it so it’s only a very quick stop because there’s nothing much to do other than admire it from street level and take a photo (and in the busy tourist season, you’ll have to be very patient if you want to get a shot without others in it).
What you see here is a beautifully ornate, overhead passageway, linking two college buildings. Surprisingly its not as old as it looks and was only built in the early 1900s. Unlike the original Bridge of Sighs in Venice, there’s no great history of stories or traditions associated with it although we were told that it’s unlucky for students to walk across the bridge before taking their big exams.
The bridge is right in the heart of Oxford, opposite the Bodleian Library and near the Radcliffe Camera, so you don’t have to go out of your way to see it.
