点评:The house is the National Trust property and you have to pay to go in (and that gives you access to the cafe as well). There are only a few rooms that have been restored, so overall not much to see. There is a lack of coherent information about the house and its inhabitants- a bit of information here and there but it didn’t seem to tell the full story. The attached “formal gardens” were ok but small. Cafe had the usual pies, sandwiches, cakes and drinks, no cooked food.
Outside, the deer park and the walk to the ruined Dinefwr Castle does not require payment. There is a “takeaway hut” for drinks and snacks in the car park so there is no need to go into the cafe in the house. The walk to the Castle is well-marked with a steepish bit at the end but worth the effort for the views from the castle.
If I went again, I would go just for the walk and skip the house.
As an aside, our car GPS took us to the back of the estate, requiring parking by the roadside, rather than the actual NT car park. So it was a longer walk to the house.
