Egyptology Study Day Bolton Museum 2025

点评：If you are interested in Egyptology I can certainly recommend Bolton Museum’s Egyptology department. I attended their Summer Study Day in September 2025. It was a fantastic day delivered by some of the best in the Industry. A couple of lectures and a workshop were delivered by Prof Joann Fletcher where she explained ancient wall scenes and described many original ancient Egyptian artefacts - which we got to handle. Another workshop, presented by Dr Stephen Buckley, introduced us to various pigments used in painting ancient art work. We had great fun mixing the pigments and creating our own piece of ‘art’ on a small tile. The day was further enhanced by a tour of the Howard Carter Exhibition and Queen Hatshepsut from Egyptology Curator Mr Ian Trumble and a session from Ms Hazel McGuiness deciphering the hieroglyphs on artefacts held at the museum. The full day ended with a wonderful opportunity to chat with the experts and like-minded enthusiasts over a drink and snacks. The full day was from 11am-8pm. There was an option just to attend the main lecture delivered by Prof Joann Fletcher; however attending the whole day enabled us to learn more. My highlight was being able to handle ancient Egyptian artefacts. What a privilege. I look forward to the next Study day.
