点评：What a fascinating history lesson, expertly delivered by George!
How many times have I driven past the sign pointing to this cottage? Well today we stopped - expecting to be able to get just a quick peek through the window, and read the information boards.
But what followed was a full description of the cottage - dimensions, age, ownership, building style - details that made sense and helped to put the design and style of the building into context.
But then came the history of Andrew Jackson. Who knew? George explained how a family from just outside Carrick ended up in S Carolina, and ended up producing a president! Antrim seems to have produced a number of them!
I must admit I learned more in one afternoon than I would have believed possible. George was a fantastic guide, teacher and story teller. And so generous with his time (sorry we kept you late)
