Wild Pacific Trail的点评
点评：Walking the entire Wild Pacific Trail (8km, one way) will take a full day, including the time to double back. With a car, you can save some time by driving between locations. Otherwise you will just be walking through residential neighborhoods at times.
WP trail is not part of the Pacific Rim NP and therefore not subject to NP entrance fees. All parking lots along WP trail are free.
The WP trail covers the following, from south to north
1. Amphitrite Lighthouse
2. Terrace Beach
3. Little Beach
4. Big Beach
5. Brown Beach
6. Artist Loop
7. Ancient Cedar Loop
8. Rocky Bluffs
#1-#2 loop hike takes 2h, with stops. #3 and #4 each requires 5-10 min quick stop. #5-#8 return hike takes 3h, with stops. so all in all, it will take you 6h or more to do the entire journey.
#1 and #6 offer the best views, and are spectacular areas for sunset. #8 is somewhat repetitive to #6, so you can skip if limited in time. the best spot within #6 is located slightly north of the 6 km marker.
Craggy volcanic rocks against coastal old growth forest is the iconic feature of WP trail. Within the Pacific Rim NP, you will not see volcanic rocks, but rather, mostly sandy beaches back against a more impressive temperate rainforest (with lichens, moss, ferns).
