A unique and special birthday treat!

点评：My partner bought me a 3 hr glass making workshop for a big birthday treat to share together, as I had always wanted to try this! I couldn't have been in better hands, Steve and Angie are super patient, humorous and fantastic teachers. They made the experience wonderful by imparting their decades of knowledge and experience. Steve explained the process in detail - including the names and use of all the tools as well as a step by step demonstration of the process. They are both super warm, friendly and personable, and ensured we understood what we were doing and we're with us every step of the way. Steve makes it all look tremendously effortless and easy but it really isn't, and it's obvious it takes many many many years to get that good. There are so many variables on how each piece turns out ie: - how much you twist the rod with the molton glass, how much colour you put into the glass or how you shape the piece once your sat in the bench, or even how you trim the edge of your piece etc.
Each item you make will be completely unique to you, which is all part of the pleasure. All in all it's a one off experience and I highly recommend it. We are even considering booking ball ball making workshop with children for Christmas.
In the end, we made 4 items each and we can't wait to see how they turn out when we pick them up next weekend.
Some tips if your thinking of trying this; you get very hot working around molton glass so wear layers that you can easily take off so that you can cool down quickly! Secondly, be prepared to focus and absorb the instructions and work quickly and calmly, because the molton glass cools rapidly, but Steve and Angie keep a close eye should you need them.
Lastly, don't worry if the piece your making doesn't quite shape or turn out as you expect! It's all experimentation and I found that the glass takes on a life of its own.
