点评:Visited Peter Doig’s exhibition of his paintings (located at the South gallery), many of which were created during the artist’s time in Trinidad, accompanied by music.
I liked the works, as many were created using perspective in drawing – a technique to create a linear illusion of depth based on the artist’s eye level and viewpoint. Reminded me of my visual education classes at secondary school. There were different rooms for different pieces, and two gigantic speakers in different parts of the exhibition. With the first speaker, which produced 70s music, I didn’t feel the connection between the sound and the paintings. Then, in a darker room, there was another speaker with sombre music and darker paintings – I felt the connection here.
The overall exhibition was quite small, so we completed our visit in roughly half an hour. Even so, we had a great time and enjoyed spending the rest of the afternoon in Kensington Gardens.
