点评:We last came many years ago and remeber it being an exciting place even for adults, so we were looking forward to see what they had done with the City of Culture money after re-opening. Its a large impressive building which did not live up to its promise. Its supposedly a free museum but you are funneled to a desk where the attendants have to overcome their embarrasement to ask everyone for a donation. There are many fascinating and important objects protected within cases but these are mostly the same as we saw many years ago. There were a few interactive exhbits but about half of them were out ofo order with a jokey note that said they were having technical problems. There are also 5 galleries and film areas where there are compulsory extra charges if you choose to use them. At first sight the cafe seemed promising with a choice of gluten free cakes for a Coeliac, but when we asked what would be available for a gluten free lunch it was a flat no, they cannot provide a GF lunch. Our favourite spot was photographing Feathers McGraw in the wrong trousers up the wall.
