The Gordon Highlanders Museum的点评
点评：The museum consists of current exhibition, historical exhibits through sponsorship, armoury, silver room, mess dining set. Only our second ever visit, though it's practically on our doorstep. Easily accessed by bus from stance 7 bus station, with busses 6 and 7 shuttling every 15/20 mins. Return bus across the street. The short walk down a slight slope, to museum entrance, should be accessible for most. The sponsored cabinets, take us through the founding and history of The Gordon Highlanders. The Duchess Jean's original bonnet is there, I loved ths particular piece. There are emotional testaments from members who fought in recent history, via video loops. The BAOR and Berlin section was very brief, though the Regiment was in both for several years, could do with a wee bit more on that level, for connecting with youngsters and not so young...now!! For those who have medal interests, there are drawers of them for perusal. The Northeast of Scotland was always proud of its connection with the Gordons, my own Father, Brother and husband all having served. The staff are a delight and very knowledgeable. Willing to take time out to answer questions. There is a bright tearoom serving light bite eats. You can book an escorted tour if you wish, we were independent. An enjoyable and informative visit!!
