St. Mary's House & Gardens的点评
点评：First of all I must say that the house is very interesting and is well worth a visit. It is easily worth the extra fiver you have to pay on top of the charge (£11 I think) to visit the garden.
Our visit started with the tea room. Must point out here that the tea room is managed by the local pub. Unfortunately it’s not up to scratch, wafer thin slice of cake for £4.50, must getting about 20 portions out of a whole cake. Cake was good. No indication whatsoever from the staff or a menu or board that they also had savoury rolls for sale. When we discovered that they were available we ordered one cheese and chutney. Worst roll ever. Cheese was wafer thin and as hard as wood, like it had been left unwrapped in the fridge for a week.
We ate what we could and then got our money back.
House is good, we met room steward Barbara h was delightful.
However, the garden is another matter. It appears to be uncared for and is overgrown with weeds and dead flowers. It is not worth visiting and definitely not worth £11. As a member of NT I am used to gardens of this type being lovingly cared for, this one looks like it had been abandoned I’m afraid.
