Pristine Secret -- and Accessible -- Beach!

点评：Well, Glory Beach is not really "secret"-- it is listed on maps, but the signage is so minimal it might as well be secret To find it, go to the south end of the island and turn in at the Jekyll Island Soccer Complex. Drive straight towards the parking area and if you look carefully, you'll see a little wooded path with a very small sign that says "Glory Beach." Follow the boardwalk through the woods and you'll come to a beautiful, secluded beach. Most of the beaches on the island have walkways with steps to cross the dunes, but this boardwalk is totally level until you reach the sand. Soft sand covers the end of the walkway and might be an obstacle for a stroller, wheelchair, etc., but at least you can get that far with a great view of the beach. I went at sunset in early May and there was only one couple walking, far off in the distance. The actual sunset is further west and not visible from Glory, but the colors in the sky were magical. I think because this beach is one of the farthest from the "action" (shops, hotels, restaurants) that it is probably not very busy most of the time. Heads up: No restroom facilities here.
