点评:I have to say, I wasn't as amazed by the ruins/village but of course recognize their history and importance, but I am not saying to downgrade but rather to state that there is so much more here than just this amazingly preserved Stone Ae village - there are scenic views, open skies, countryside and even a small cafe/gift shop.
We have spent majority of our visit here on the bench right at the northwest corner of the village - you can't beat the views, the fresh air - it was such a peaceful moment that I recommend to everyone - don't just rush through this place, it's best appreciated in slow pace.
We came here as part of the Historic Environment Scotland - which I highly recommend, though keep in mind you still need to "book a window" of entrance for yourself with the pass - during slow end of April this wasn't an issue that we arrived outside of our prebooked window - basically anywhere we showed the pass we were just welcomed inside without the need of showing the separate "entrance reservation" with the venue
TIP: there are restrooms inside the gift shop - not too many of them around the Orkney main island stops so do take advantage of that :)
