Disappointed with the rooms. Otherwise OK
St. Pierre Golf & Country Club的点评
点评：Lovely building with nice panelled sitting and dining rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Now the downsides to our stay. Small room, only one bedside table for a double room, lack of bedside electrical sockets, no fridge, no aircon, tiny bathroom with shower over the bath. I suspect it is a twin room with a central table, but they made the room up as a double which didn’t work properly. Rooms like ours having a connecting door allow you to hear your neighbours snoring, talking and their TV amongst other things.
I expect high bar prices in a hotel but not exorbitant, Guinness £8.40 a pint. Two coffees and bacon rolls in excess of £25. Bottles of wine starting at £30 if you’re lucky.
Good well stocked buffet breakfast, cereals, granola, fruit as well as sausage, bacon, egg etc and pastries. Evening dinner menu was limited and fairly plain. Nothing to get excited about to be honest. Most people in our group were disappointed. Tiramisu and Eaton Mess for example, were nothing like what they should be.
Onto the golf, the Mathern course is not very long but tight, tees are scruffy with daisy’s growing all over them, and some fairways were as long as the rough on the first day. Mown on the second day. Expect a slow round following groups who don’t seem to know where they’re going, and people just jumping on the 10th tee in front of you.
The Old Course was a very pleasant surprise, in a different league altogether. Very busy though with corporate golf days, meaning buggies are quickly taken.
We’d heard good reports, but we definitely won’t be in a rush to make a return journey until they make some changes with the accommodation.
Apparently, ownership has recently changed so hopefully the new owners will take a look at the feedback and get the place up to the standards that are expected from staying visitors who are paying a premium. But I doubt anyone will take any notice.

再说高尔夫球场，马瑟恩球场虽然不长，但很窄，发球台杂草丛生，长满了雏菊，第一天有些球道甚至和长草区一样长。第二天才修剪过。预计会打得很慢，因为前面几组球员似乎不知道该怎么打，而且有人会直接插队到你前面的10号发球台。
老球场则是一个令人惊喜的亮点，完全是另一个档次。不过，由于经常有公司高尔夫活动，所以球车很快就被租光了。
我们之前听说过一些好评，但除非住宿条件有所改善，否则我们肯定不会急着再去。
据说，球场最近换了老板，希望新老板能认真听取大家的反馈，把住宿条件提升到应有的水准，毕竟我们付了高价。但我怀疑他们根本不会理会。
