Haleakala Visitor Center的点评
点评：The Haleakala Summit District has two good Visitor Centers. The first shortly after entering the park is close to the National Park sign and offers great views over Maui. It is situated in the section of low mountain meadow shrub. This is what the native summit district has looked like long before humans came to Maui and offers the perfect habitat for the Nene. In addition, there is a garden planted in front that has several native plants to the summit district including the start silversword as these were our introduction to the Haleakala signature plant. It is also just above the cloud line making for surreal pictures.
Additionally, there is a VC near the summit at 9,750 of elevation with great views into the crater. It is here at the trailheads for both the Sliding Sands Trail and White Hill Trail that you have some of the best views of the crater overlooking a cliff at the VC.
We used the restrooms at both VCs and shopped for park specific gifts and memorabilia. Finally, both VC's had rangers who provided excellent information about the park to enhance our visits.
