Driver Alan hit a vehicle and tried to drive away

点评：Our experience with driver Alan raised serious concerns about both driving standards and how an accident was handled.
About half a mile before the Pen-y-Pass Warden Centre, coming from Nant Peris, Alan struck our passenger-side mirror while overtaking us. At the time, there was a cyclist and a double-decker bus immediately ahead. As can be seen in the photo, both the bus and cyclist were directly ahead, and Alan’s left-side mirror was already missing its reflective glass.
After hitting our vehicle, he did not stop, slow down or indicate any intention to pull over. He continued closely behind the bus and partly towards the opposing lane.
When the bus stopped to enter the car park, Alan still did not pull over. I approached his vehicle on foot. As I reached the driver's window, he started closing the window and moving the vehicle. I reached in and switched off the ignition by taking the key, during which I was dragged several feet as the vehicle moved.
He eventually allowed me to check for damage and gave me his business card, which identified him as Alan. We both later apologised for how the confrontation developed.
We just inspected our mirror properly right now, about 30 minutes after the incident, we found damage to the indicator assembly. We also have dashcam footage and photographs of the incident.
The damage itself is relatively minor. Far more concerning was the driving and the apparent attempt to continue without stopping after making contact with another vehicle.
Given that these vehicles are being driven professionally, I would strongly suggest the company installs front and rear dashcams in its vehicles. They would protect passengers, drivers, the company and other road users, while making incidents like this much easier to establish objectively.
