The Reptile Discovery Center is one of Central Florida’s hidden gems! I’ve been there many times, and every time I have visitors from out of town, this is one of the first places I bring them.
Now let’s be honest… how often do you get to watch someone milk a rattlesnake or a cobra? It’s fascinating, a little nerve-racking, and you can’t take your eyes off it!
Carl’s passion is infectious! I’ve always enjoyed watching Mara work alongside him, and this visit it was fun to see him training the next generation. It was great to see this unique knowledge being passed on.
What makes this place so special is that it’s not just a snake show. The venom they collect is used in the process of making antivenom that helps save the lives of people bitten by venomous snakes, while also supporting important medical research. You’re not just watching an amazing demonstration—you’re watching the first step in something that truly saves lives.
Whether you love reptiles or have been afraid of snakes your whole life, you’ll leave with a whole new respect for them. Every person I’ve brought here has walked away saying, “Wow… I had no idea!”
