点评：The short review is - Yes, take this tour!
The longer review: I had always wanted to visit Tunisia, not only to see the country itself, but above all to experience the Star Wars filming sites which I had only read about online.
I met Davin Anderson, the founder of Galaxy Tours, at SW Celebration in Japan. I signed up for the 50th Anniversary Group Tour, but to be honest, I wasn’t completely sure what to expect going in.
I’m happy to say that the tour blew me away. Davin’s attention to detail, depth of research, prepared materials, and engaging manner of presentation had the entire group hooked throughout. In particular, it was his explanations of how he discovered the scouted locations (not even used in the final films) that made it obvious how much passion and time he had devoted to researching the background behind the various films’ production.
The whole tour culminated in a day-long ATV ride across the desert flats to the iconic Lars Homestead, where his son (a virtuoso on the piano) freestyled a concert for us, while we watched the sunset… this was a moment I will carry with me for a long time.
As an added bonus - all the boutique hotels, included meals, and additional guides/driver present on the tour were excellent. They gave me a new insight into Tunisian hospitality and culture, and I appreciated the guides’ commentary about Tunisian/Berber history as we drove towards various sites.
Above all, I left with a newfound respect towards George Lucas, the Star Wars mythos, and everyone who helped a galaxy far, far away come to life in the first place. All thanks to Davin and Galaxy Tours. I encourage you to book one of their tours and hope that you too will have another happy landing!
