Rapperswil - A charming Lakeside Gem of History, Roses & Scenic Views

点评：Nestled on the shores of Lake Zürich, Rapperswil more than live up to its Romantic nickname, the Town of Roses.
From the moment you arrive, the setting feels picture-perfect : cobblestones lanes, pastel façades, and a graceful waterfront promenade lined with cafés and benches - ideal for a slow stroll or simply watching the world drift by.
One of the town’s most striking landmark is « Schloss Rapperswill », majestically perched on a hill above the old town. The castle rewards visitors with sweeping panoramic views.
We visited late in the season and therefore missed the full splendour of the renowned Rose Garden. A return in late spring, when the flowers are in glorious bloom, is clearly in order. In the meantime, the town’s charm more than compensate.
For lovers of scenic walks, a leisurely crossing of the long wooden footbridge toward Hudon offers stunning lake views and a refreshing sense of openness.
Families will appreciate the presence of «Knie’s Kinderzoo», part of the historic Circus Knie tradition - a delightful stop for children and adults alike.
In winter, the Christmas markets are said to transform the town into magical setting. Sadly, we arrived a few days too early to experience it - another reason to return.
Overall, Rapperswil is a wonderful photogenic destination - perfect for a day trip from Zürich or a longer stay if you want to enjoy more it the Swiss charm with a lovely mix of history and culture.
