点评:Wow this place was mind blowing and its still FREE!
I've been twice before over a period of twenty years, I went with my oldest friend who's non British, to give him a slice of what we give to the world.
And yes its still free, but I got tickets online and got two £5 donation tickets, which is still incredible value, but you can book tickets with no donation for free, which in this day and age is a brilliant gesture by the museum.
Its absolutely reeks of memory lane and history, especially to me who as a 6 year old stood on a bridge at Walton Lane in Nelson, and stood with hundreds of people who wanted to see the chance of the "Flying Scotsman" pass through, I remember it passing and being engulfed with the cloud of steam it pushed out, and the loud whistle as the driver let everyone know they were passing. Straight from there I took him to ride the Haworth Worth Valley Line, which blew him away.
There's so much to see here, including the famous Blue Mallard and a room full of railway memorabilia, some of which is incredible. Stephenson's Rocket, the list is endless.
probably wont mean much to anyone under 20-30 but to us old-uns, its an absolute treasure trove of memories and nostalgia of days gone bye that will never be seen again. I'm filling up!!
