点评：We had an outstanding experience touring the Stonewall Jackson House, and a big part of that was our wonderful guide, Mike.
From the beginning, Mike did an excellent job covering the history of the home and the life of Stonewall Jackson, but what made the tour truly memorable was how he personalized the experience. When I mentioned my interest in God’s providence in Jackson’s life, he thoughtfully wove that perspective into the tour in a natural and meaningful way, while still covering all the key historical details.
He highlighted powerful examples of Jackson’s faith that brought the story to life—his large Sunday school classes for enslaved individuals, his efforts to teach and engage them beyond the classroom, and the influence of his wife’s strong religious background. I was especially struck by the details he pointed out inside the home, like Jackson’s choice of artwork depicting women reading, which reflected a deeper appreciation for learning and Scripture.
Mike also shared insights into Jackson’s early life, including his difficult upbringing and how his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point can be seen through the lens of providence. His ability to connect these personal and spiritual elements with the broader historical context made the tour both informative and deeply meaningful.
