点评:We went on a warm day, high 80’s. My husband and I wore T-shirts and were good. If we wore more we would have been hot. People talk about getting in and out in less than 2 hours. Honestly if you want to do other things the same day then don’t walk down. Just take the elevator down and spend all your time at the bottom and take the elevator back up. It is a very long and seemingly never ending walk down. They tell you on their web site to wear closed to shoes. The issue is it’s not just walking downhill, it’s a steep incline so the majority of the time your toes are sliding forward smashing to the front of your shoes. I had good trail sneakers on and I can’t think of any shoe that would have been better. If I had to do it again I would wear Teva type shoes/ Chaco that are open so my toes wouldn’t get smashed. It was annoying. The good thing is when you get to the bottom it’s so beautiful. If you take the elevator down you really won’t miss anything. And it being self guided is awesome. Take your time and stop and look BEHIND YOU. Many times it was prettier. The one thing that is an ABSOLUTE MUST and better than the cavern is the Bat Flight at dusk. We were told that we probably wouldn’t see any bats but there were THOUSANDS that came out. Starts with an educational talk. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It just topped off a great day. It was so beautiful it seriously brought tears to my eyes. And it’s free!
