A Brilliant Day Out, Now Where Do I Get an Owl?

点评：We visited Muncaster Castle on a Friday during our stay near Keswick, and it ended up being a great day out.
There was plenty to do, and you could easily spend a full day here if you wanted to make the most of everything. We watched all of the bird shows, visited the castle, joined the castle chat, had food and coffee at the café, and also tried the Weapons Hall activities, including archery, crossbow and axe throwing.
The Owl Show and Birds of Prey Show were brilliant and definitely the highlights for us. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. The Weapons Hall was also really fun and added something a bit different to the day.
We felt it was good value for money because there was so much included and enough to keep you busy for hours. We noticed quite a few people left after the 2pm bird show and didn’t come back for the last one. The 11:30am and 2pm shows were definitely the main ones we’d recommend seeing if you can. The 4pm show wasn’t as big, but if you have time, it’s still worth staying for.
Getting around was easy enough. Parking was free, and although there were signs, we mostly used the map to navigate around the grounds. It was a nice place to explore at a relaxed pace.
We also had a sandwich and coffee at the café. The latte I had was really nice, and the prices were fair. That said, I’d recommend bringing picnic food and blanket if the weather is good, as there’s a lovely big picnic area near the playground.
We went as a couple and both really enjoyed it. Dogs are allowed too, which is great, although you may not be able to take them into the castle, the Weapons Hall, or to the owl show, so it’s worth checking before visiting.

园区内的交通十分便利。停车是免费的，虽然有指示牌，但我们主要还是依靠地图来导航。这是个可以慢悠悠探索的好地方。
我们还在咖啡馆里吃了三明治、喝了咖啡。我点的拿铁味道很不错，价格也合理。不过……如果天气不错的话，我建议带上野餐食物和毯子，因为游乐场附近有个很大的野餐区。
我们两人一起去的，都玩得很开心。这里也允许带狗进入，这很不错；不过可能无法带狗狗进入城堡、武器陈列馆或猫头鹰表演区，所以出发前最好先确认一下。
