点评：I visited the New Croton Dam at Croton Gorge Park in June for the second time and I appreciated it even more than I did the first time, it is an impressive combination of a monumental man-made structure and the raw power of nature. Watching the water rush from the reservoir through the massive spillway openings with varying degrees of force while also cascading vertically down into the gorge is a remarkable sight, the dam and surrounding landscape make this a memorable place to experience in person.
This is a great place to visit for people of all ages and a suitable destination for families, weather permitting, the park offers a good opportunity to enjoy a picnic, walk around and take in the scenery, it is also a good place for children to see the scale of the dam and the force of the moving water first hand, photos and videos can give a person a good idea of what to expect but there is no substitute for seeing the dam spillway and the surrounding landscape in person. I recommend New Croton Dam and Croton Gorge Park to anyone who enjoys scenic walks, picnics, and seeing an impressive piece of engineering alongside the natural landscape. There is a parking lot on the premises at 350 Yorktown Road (Route 129).
