Excellent visit, had a great time despite it being a Monday when almost everything else was closed

点评：We drover 50 miles out of our way to visit Steubenville on Monday, December 22, 2025.
We heard about the Nutcracker Village, and upon arriving we started at the fort which was recommended to us. Unfortunately, little did we know that on Mondays almost everything is closed. This included touring the historic area of the fort. We did peruse the visitor center building and gift shop. We also walked all over downtown to see the more than 200 life size nutcracker statues, the architecture of this historic old steel manufacturing town. After the closing of the steel industry the downtown had begun to decay and nearly abandoned. This was why they began the Nutcracker Village and celebration around the Christmas holidays., to bring people back downtown to shop. As visitors we were happy to contribute. However, almost everything was closed on Monday. We did visit, shop and buy at the bookstore, the Leonardo coffee shop and the fort. We would have loved to dine at one of the restaurants as well, if they had been open.
