On Wrexham’s home Turf.
The Turf的点评
点评：We were driving around parts of England and Wales (as Aussie tourists). I’m a fan of the FX docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham”, and we had stopped in at The Turf for an Aviation gin and tonic a couple of years ago. This time, I really wanted to see a Wrexham game, but just couldn’t make the dates work.
What did work was to see an away game (Wrexham v Coventry) live at The Turf pub in Wrexham with local supporters.
And it was awesome!
Townsfolk were there well before kick-off. The owner, Wayne Jones, was running around making sure people were settled. He told me that all of the tables were booked, but we were welcome to stand at a high table.
Later, we were invited to share a table with a local couple as they had space, which was nice of them.
I thought the drinks were very reasonably priced, considering the fame of the place.
When Wrexham scored an equalizer against Coventry, the place erupted. It was glorious! THAT’S what I wanted to see and hear. Even though Wrexham ultimately lost the game, that moment will stay with me.
There’s plenty of memorabilia around the walls for Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool, etc, around the walls, and don’t forget the murals outside.
An afternoon to remember!
