点评:Although Chester racecourse may be great for horse racing (after all they've had over 500 years experience!) the same cannot be true for their ability to arrange pop concerts.
Although the recent Tom Jones/Nile Rodgers concert was fantastic in terms of the artist the infrastructure and organisation by Chester racecourse was absolutely appalling.
1 Changing story about seating arrangements
Bearing in mind we were taking an 88-year-old lady to the show we were keen that there was some provision for her to be sat. Originally we were told we could bring the chairs in but this would need to be at the back, which is fine, then this was cancelled and we were told they would be plenty of benches. Well this was a total lie the benches did not materialise they're only a few pub style bench tables right at the back as part of one of the debt providers. No other benches despite the insurance.
2 Inactive side screens
For those people not stood front stage and moving to the left or right, like we did, it is vital that the side televisions show the same as what's on the main back television so we share the same visual experience as those more central. The two side screens very seldom showed the same footage and in many cases were turned off entirely – why was this?
3 Bar service
It took 40 minutes to buy 3 pints of beer. The general delay was not so much about number of people waiting but about the experience and lackadaisical approach of the young staff on duty that evening. I suspect many of them never served a drink before judging by what I saw.
4 Pass Outs
We looked to take our elderly guest out for little while for a break where she could sit down and have a drink namely at The Architect but we're told that if we left the venue we could not return – absolutely ridiculous.
5 Petty security surveillance
Once again a lot of young inexperienced people doing a job that they were not really capable of. Checking to see whether my 300m bottle of Stillwater I've actually been opened or not – totally ridiculous!
Summary, they are probably great at race day but if you're thinking of going to a pop concert there in the future be very wary as they really aren't up to it.
