Lovely Racecourse let down by poorly trained staff!!

点评：This racecourse is beautiful and just a 10min walk from the centre of town. Went the first day of the Boodle Festival and there was a great atmosphere. We had tickets for the County Long Room which meant we had outside allocated seating overlooking the finish line. BUT… the organisation of the venue lets everything else down. We had to queue up at Guest Services for our lapel badges that didn’t arrive in the post (and there’s nothing in email communications to tell you anything about badges), they challenged our choice of footwear despite ignoring a gentleman wearing an old pair of sketcher slip-ons! We were told if we bought a bottle of fizz (£110!!!) we’d be able to take it to our seat - then security stopped us and said no glass outside! They allowed us to take it onto the County Stand where we had to sit on a concrete step to finish our drink. To make matters worse, when we eventually got back to our seats, we complained other people had bottles outside. One of stewards explained they’d been told halfway through the day it was now ok. The food outlets are few and far between and options limited to burgers, pies, or loaded fries - and don’t expect staff to know where anything is. Would I go back? Probably, but I’d be more prepared and eat beforehand!
